East Hartford Community HealthCare (EHCHC)will mark its 10th year anniversary with an anniversary dinner and a silent auction Friday, Sept. 15, at the Adams Mill in Manchester.

Since opening in 1996, EHCHC has provided primary medical and dental care to uninsured and underinsured residents of East Hartford, Manchester and surrounding towns. According to EHCHC staff, over 35,000 have visited the health center at 94 Connecticut Boulevard. Of that total, 20,000 were those lacking health insurance - 7,000 in the last fiscal year alone. The last year has also seen an increase of 55 percent in medical cases, and a 22 percent increase in total patients.

The anniversary dinner at the Adams Mill Restaurant is an important fundraiser. The general public is invited to attend and support EHCHC. Auction items and other monetary donations are also being accepted.

Founded and built by neighborhood health activists in 1996, East Hartford Community Health Center is one of the newest in the tradition of Connecticut's community health centers. In an attractive and modern facility central to the neighborhood it serves, the East Hartford Community Health Center provides a warm welcome and exceptional health care services. The practice has grown into a modern facility staffed by three board-certified physicians and a nurse practitioner. In 2002, a dental practice was added and is today comprised of three dentists and two dental hygienists.

EHCHC provides health services to people from all walks of life including those with no or little insurance on a "sliding scale" based on family size and income. In addition to its East Hartford location, the center has opened satellite services in Manchester called Manchester Community Health Services. Medical and dental services are provided at the satellite facility at 150 North Main Street, Manchester.

Affiliated with St. Francis Hospital and Manchester Memorial Hospital, both East Hartford Community Healthcare and Manchester Community Health Services provide comprehensive primary care from newborn through to adult and elderly services.
