A 13-year-old girl was forced into a van at knifepoint and sexually assaulted while on her way home from school Friday, Winnipeg police said yesterday.

Cops said the teen was confronted by a knife-wielding man behind a 7-Eleven at the corner of Henderson Highway and Sutton Avenue in North Kildonan.

The incident happened about 3:30 p.m. after classes ended at several nearby schools, including Chief Peguis Junior High and River East Collegiate. Cops did not reveal the girl's school.

Police said the man is described as aboriginal, about 28 years old, 6 feet tall and 195 pounds with a large build. His long black hair was tied in a pony tail with three elastics, he had a scruffy face, five-cm scar on his right cheek, deep voice, and was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and black jeans.
