KANSAS CITY Police have identified the man killed Monday in a fiery drag-racing wreck. Faustino Jimenez-Alcudra, 29, of Kansas City, was a passenger in a sport utility vehicle struck from behind by a speeding Ford Mustang on Troost Avenue near 45th Street. Police think the Mustang was racing with two other vehicles. The SUV flipped, struck a tree and burst into flames. Another man in the SUV remained in very critical condition Wednesday with burns over 90 percent of his body.

A woman was killed in a three-car wreck about 3 p.m. Wednesday on westbound Missouri 152 near Shoal Creek Parkway, police said. The victim's name was unavailable.

The only survivor of a house fire that claimed her husband and four grandchildren is out of the hospital. Learlean Glover received cuts and burns early Sunday when neighbors rescued her from the family's house at 1205 New Jersey St. She was staying with relatives after her release from the hospital late Tuesday.

Two robbers held up two persons outside their home early Wednesday morning. The victims had just returned home to the 600 block of West 69th Street shortly after midnight when the robbers approached from behind. Both robbers were armed, and one held a gun to a victim's head. The robbers took cell phones, cash and credit cards.

An Olathe man was sentenced Wednesday to five years in prison for using the Internet to entice a minor for sex. Shawn J. Glazier, 35, pleaded guilty in July in U.S. District Court. Glazier had eight condoms in his pocket when he was arrested last year after driving to meet what he thought was a 14-year-old girl who turned out to be an undercover police officer.

Three persons were apprehended Wednesday after police responded to a disturbance call at Pavlich Inc., a trucking company at 250 S. Fifth St. where large aluminum truck fenders were missing from at least one vehicle. Officers later stopped a pickup truck at Seventh Street and Shawnee Avenue and found several large aluminum fenders.

A man went behind the counter at a QuikTrip convenience store at 107th Street and Roe Avenue about 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, picked up seven cartons of cigarettes and left without paying. Two similar thefts resulted in charges this month against Anthony S. Davis, 27, of Independence, and authorities are looking for him. Authorities in the town of Drexel said Wednesday they had filed no charges after looking into allegations that two high school students had made threats. The 18-year-old seniors were accused of threatening four students by asking them questions in reference to making "a book of the dead," Police Chief Jon Carpenter said.

A single-engine Cessna was rocked by winds as it tried to touch down Wednesday at Wheeler Downtown Airport, leading to a rough landing that briefly shut down the airport. The plane landed shortly before 3 p.m. when gusty winds forced the plane's wing to hit the runway, said city airport spokesman Joe McBride. The aircraft swerved, and its nose wheel ran off the side of the runway. The three passengers on the plane were not hurt.
