ALBANY - Civil War Military Camps and a full day of events are scheduled for Civil War Heritage Day 9 a.m.-5 p.m. today in Albany Rural Cemetery where more than 800 Civil War veterans are buried.

The day includes performances by the nationally recognized Civil War music group, the 77th NY Regimental Balladeers; and The Excelsior Cornet Band, the state's only authentic Civil War Brass Band that uses 1860-period instruments. A donation of $5 per car gains entrance. Walking tours are offered, as are horse-drawn carriage tours (there is an additional $15 per person charge for the carriage tours).

CLIFTON PARK - The annual garage sale and bake sale sponsored by the Clifton Park United Methodist Women will be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. today at the Betts home, 111 Plant Road, rain or shine. Proceeds benefit mission work.

TROY - The Lansingburgh Historical Society will hold its annual fall porch sale of antiques and collectibles 9 a.m.-2 p.m. today at its headquarters, The Herman Melville House, 2 114th St. The society holds two such sales each year as fund-raisers to benefit the Society's general fund assisting in financing society activities and expenses. TROY - Rensselaer County's fifth annual "Safe Seniors: A TRIAD Conference on Safety, Health and Consumer Fraud" will be held 9 a.m.-3 p.m. today. The free event and luncheon will be held at the Bulmer Telecommunications Center located on the Hudson Valley Community College Campus. TRIAD is a partnership of Senior Citizens, service providers, and law enforcement agencies working together to prevent the criminal victimization of seniors. Workshops and presentations at this year's conference will cover a host of issues impacting the health and safety of senior citizens.
